thekandelstudio: I love the variety of people that you get to meet along this journey. When I first started shooting I mainly looked to my friends and my family members as subjects. Then my girlfriend and her friends. After that I began to shoot complete strangers (in the nude) for my series Friends and Strangers. I’ve shot dancers on pointe, Olympic athletes and even dogs & cats. From there it was development models and now experienced models. For other commissioned work I was asked to shoot bands and then powerful icons in Los Angeles. On this day I was able to shoot with a young hollywood actress, Jamie Chung. I wanted the images from the shoot to exude a powerful yet elegant presence, which Jamie naturally brought. With each project I begin to feel more comfortable no matter who it is that I am shooting. It is about preparation, collaboration, and critical thinking on your toes. Check out the work when you get a chance. - tk
